What is Important to You?

„Wir können Probleme nicht mit derselben Denkweise lösen, durch die sie entstanden sind.“

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Albert Einstein

The human mind can come up with many ideas, some good, some bad, some with longevity and others not. What is important to one person may be less so for others.

If we are a one trick pony and can only think inside the box we have a limited number of options with which to approach whatever life throws us. Chances are we reach for our trusty play book and roll out the same old. We approach the same “problems” in the same way and get similar poor results time after time. It never occurs to us that the way we think about something, how we frame it, has caused the problem. We have created our own problems by the way we think about something and approach it. In such a paradigm no solution is possible. Groundhog day.

Our priorities might be appearance and face. Some problems cannot be solved without loss of face so we leave a mess and ignore the problem hoping it will go away.  Unless we change entirely nothing can be done. We remain rigid in our ways and behaviours. Adamant even.

If we think just like our peers we may be prone to clone-think in order to comply and fit it. Only certain ways of thinking are allowed. We must mirror exactly our hive. The priorities of the shoal or hive are tantamount and we must either share them or appear so to do.

Sometimes when you're overwhelmed by a situation - when you're in the darkest of darkness - that's when your priorities are reordered.

It can take an almighty shock or change in circumstance to interrupt our habitual ways of thinking and change our approach and orientation.

In Quantum mechanics if a particle is confined in a tight potential energy box only certain wave functions are allowed. If one’s thinking is 2 or 3 dimensional and rigid, boxed, only certain thought forms are allowed. All else is forbidden. The higher the barrier or perceptual wall for the box the more difficult it is to see outside. There is no portion of the thought wave function which might experience a fresh reality outside of the box. One is confined in the box which may be of choice or of environment and circumstance. Our peers may construct our thinking box (prison) for us.

In universities REF is a big deal and many spend a great deal of time tuning their recruitment and “strategy”, gaming things to get a good score. Get a bunch of nerds to play a game that has a pecuniary value which enables them to nerd some more, they will play well. Give them a priority to work to.

In the world of spiritual evolution and karma, the rulebook differs from that of acquisitional hedonistic materialism. The plays from that material world are low scoring, no bonus points and often demerits. If you attempt to play the “power” games of acquisitional hedonistic materialism you will not score high in spiritual evolution nor in working off karma. We each of us prioritise.

Some choose the path of least resistance, the old and the known. Few have the capacity and willingness to try something entirely new.

The obsession with control keeps them locked into the acquisitional hedonistic materialism play book. This is true even when it is exactly that play book which creates the majority of problems for them.

The dentist’s motto “drill baby drill” is an example of using embedded and perhaps archaic thinking in an attempt to solve problems.

I suspect that humanity has to go fully down the shitter and have some really dire consequences before it will wake up. Just now they are not dire enough.

Karma is the law of cause and effect. Our actions, thoughts and words create the world we live in. Some of our priorities may be misplaced.

Action expresses priorities.
